Toys'R'Us donates $500K to help hurricane-affected youth

9/23/2008

WAYNE, N.J. The Toys"R"Us Children's Fund announced that it has donated $500,000 to help Save the Children expand its work on behalf of children and infants impacted by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Save the Children is a global humanitarian organization that responds to the unique needs of the world's youngest victims in the wake of natural disasters. The Toys"R"Us Children's Fund donation will assist with the organization's relief and recovery efforts in Texas and Louisiana.

This financial commitment follows an immediate donation by Toys"R"Us of thousands of baby products delivered to shelters prior to and after the hurricanes. To provide safe, comfortable environments for infants and toddlers in need, Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores donated $100,000 worth of portable cribs, diapers and other sundries to evacuated families.
