Seattle – Retailers of oversized items like barbecue grills and large-screen TVs may want to consider offering same-day delivery services.
According to a survey of 615 U.S. adults by same-day delivery provider Fleetzen, 25% of respondents said a same-day delivery option would increase their likelihood of a purchase of an oversize item, while another 39% indicated it would give a significant boost to their chances of purchasing an oversized item.
Almost 37% of respondents indicated they had a purchased an oversized item in the past year that did not fit into their car, including 14% who purchased in just the past three months. Some 41% of those oversized item decisions were impulse in nature and made while the customer was in-store. And for almost half of all oversize purchases, the research indicated that consumers had to go through the inconvenience of either renting transportation or calling a friend.
