Sports Authority gears up for holiday season

Sports Authority plans to hire 3,500 temporary employees across the country to meet consumer demand during the 2014 holiday season.



All Sports Authority locations will begin hiring this month and will continue until December. The specialty retailer added that it plans to convert hundreds of seasonal workers into permanent staff after the holidays.



“We are proud to create thousands of jobs for eager applicants looking for part-time and temporary work during the holiday season at Sports Authority locations across the country,” said Robert Gordon, SVP of HR at Sports Authority. “Our team members are our greatest resource to provide customers with great value and service. This additional staffing will ensure that our stores are well equipped to create the truly enjoyable holiday shopping experience that our customers have come to expect from Sports Authority.”



Seasonal employees are eligible to receive the same benefits as current full-time staff, and this year will have access to the retailer’s cost plus 15% team member discount.



Sports Authority operates 474 locations across 43 states and Puerto Rico.
