Sports Authority and 49ers blitz Bay Area
The Sports Authority enlisted the aid of current and former San Francisco 49ers greats to promote awareness of 18 stores it remodeled recently in the Bay Area.
Grand re-opening festivities were scheduled for the 18 stores beginning on Saturday, June 28. Each of the remodeled stores features an intuitive design and specialty sport shops with products from top brands like Nike, Under Armour, Adidas and The North Face, according to the company.
“Sports Authority believes in celebrating the good of sport, and we are delighted to bring this philosophy to 18 of our locations throughout the Bay Area while providing great value and outstanding service to the families and recreational athletes in their communities,” said Sports Authority CEO Michael Foss.
To ensure a strong turn out at the grand re-openings, the first 250 customers at each store will receive Mystery Bucks that range up to $500 in value. There will also be hourly $100 gift card drawings on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and a chance for customers to win a $500 shopping spree. In addition, members of The League, Sports Authority’s loyalty program, will receive a $10 Thank You reward with any purchase on Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29.
If the prospect of free stuff and cash don’t do the trick, some of the Bay Area’s biggest sports stars will be on hand to promote store traffic. Former 49ers running back Roger Craig and defensive back Ronnie Lott and current running back Frank Gore are schedule to appear at select stores in addition to San Francisco Giants catcher Hector Sanchez, outfielder Tyler Colvin, first baseman J.T. Snow and infielder Brandon Crawford. Also scheduled to attend select opening are Olympic gold medalist and boxing champion Andre Ward and former NBA player Mitch Richmond.
