Snowstorm to put dent in Saturday shopping

New York City A snowstorm is likely to impact retailers from Virginia to Boston on what has become the busiest shopping day of the year: the Saturday before Christmas, reported business weather-intelligence firm Planalytics.

According to Planalytics, retailers can expect some business to shift online, and also to Sunday. The firm also predicts more unsettled weather ahead next week.

Listed below is Planalytics’ breakdown of the percentage of retailers’ store bases expected to receive snowfall on what it calls “Super Saturday.”

  • DSW Shoes: 44%
  • Kohl’s: 40%
  • American Eagle Outfitter: 37%
  • Lowe’s: 37%
  • TJMaxx: 36%
  • Family Dollar: 36%
  • Sears: 35%
  • Macy’s: 35%
  • Target: 31%
  • WalMart Stores: 29%
