Sears grants a wish for Make-a-Wish

8/27/2015

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores raised more than $217,000 for Make-A-Wish this past spring, when it held a two-week charitable program.

Customers at Sears Appliance & Hardware Stores, Sears Outlet Stores, Sears Hometown Stores and Sears Home Appliance Showrooms were incentivized with a discount off a future purchase for a donation of $5 or more to Make-A-Wish.

"Giving back is a key component of our corporate culture to keep us engrained in the communities we serve. Through our partnership with Make-A-Wish, we have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of deserving families," said Will Powell, president and CEO of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. "The results of our spring fundraising campaign far exceeded our expectations. We look forward to continuing this momentum throughout the year."

The program was part of Sears Hometown's ongoing relationship with Make-A-Wish. Last year, the company raised $500,000.

"With every wish we grant, we are able to bring hope and optimism back into the lives of wish children and their families," said Make-A-Wish America president and CEO David Williams. "To achieve our goal of granting the wish of every eligible child, we need support, and we're so grateful that companies like Sears Hometown and Outlet stores make it an initiative to support our mission."
