Sears Canada launches pop-up university stores
TORONTO Sears Canada is opening four pilot Pop-Up stores this month at various universities. The specialty pop-up stores will offer merchandise targeted toward college living including housewares, bath and electronics.
"We are excited about Sears Canada's introduction of mobile retailing through pop-up stores in specialty markets," said Dene Rogers, president and ceo of Sears Canada. "A pop-up temporary storefront concept has been gaining popularity in Canada, and Sears Canada is delighted to bring this concept to four Canadian universities, at a relevant and exciting time like back to school."
The University pop-up locations are approximately 900 square feet and encompass a store-within-a-mobile-tent concept. Each of the four locations will also incorporate a recruitment area, to offer students the opportunity to inquire about possible job opportunities at nearby Sears stores, in addition to a Sears Travel and Sears MasterCard application kiosk.
