Sam’s gives back to get back
More than 750,000 Sam’s Club members will receive rebate checks totaling $107 million this month for using their Sam’s Club Discover card, and much of that money will likely end up back in the till at Sam’s Club. Sam’s Club launched the Discover card program in April 2005.
“We are pleased the program is growing and these checks are coming at a welcome time with small business owners and families looking for ways to stretch their dollars,” said Cindy Davis, senior vp of marketing and membership at Sam’s Club.
It is likely many check recipients will choose to stretch their dollars at Sam’s Club as the rebate checks can only be cashed at a Sam’s Club location. Sam’s Club Plus Members who pay an annual fee of $100 earn up to 2% cash back on every purchase made with their Discover card Sam’s Club and other locations where Discover is accepted. Standard Sam’s Club Advantage members who pay an annual membership fee of $40 and business members who pay $35 earn up to 1% cash back when they use their Discover cards.
Sam’s Club Business Members will receive $66 million, up 28% over last year's reward total, and Advantage Members will receive $41 million, up 38 % over last year.
