Sam's Club pledges $20K to help needy animal shelters
BENTONVILLE, Ark. — In honor of Adopt-a-Dog Month in October, Sam's Club announced that it is pledging $20,000 of Simply Right branded pet food, supplies and Sam's Club gift cards to four U.S. animal shelters in need of support following recent natural disasters. The pet food is part of Sam's Club's new proprietary brand Simply Right line of quality and affordable pet care products, available exclusively to Sam's Club members.
"By donating pet food, supplies and support to local animal shelters in recovery following a natural disaster, Sam's Club hopes to alleviate the burden of the event on animals, shelter managers and owners whose pets may have been displaced in the disasters," said Maurice Markey, VP proprietary brands for Sam's Club. "We understand how important pets are in people's lives, and Sam's Club is happy to provide quality pet products to four deserving adoption shelters this month."
Recipients of the donations include the following shelters:
Austin Pets Alive! (Austin, Texas)
Austin Humane Society(Austin, Texas)
Liberty Humane Society (Jersey City, N.J.)
SPCA of Luzerne County (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.)
