Sales Sink at MarineMax

Clearwater, Fla. Recreational boat retailer MarineMax announced Tuesday that the company anticipated fourth-quarter revenue would fall to approximately $165 million, vs. $318 million in the year-ago period. Same-store sales were down 45% in the quarter that ended Sept. 30.

In addition to the devastating economic conditions and multiple hurricanes throughout August and September, the poor performance was also affected by the closing of seven stores. Currently MarineMax operates 80 stores in 22 states.
