Rue21 records 20% rise in Q2 net income

Warrendale, Pa. Rue21 said late Wednesday that profit for the second quarter ended July 31 rose 20% to $6.4 million, compared with net income of $5.3 million in the year-ago period.

Revenue rose 14% to $143 million, from $125.1 million. Wall Street expected $151.5 million in sales.

Same-store sales slid 1.6%.

The specialty apparel retailer operates more than 500 stores in 43 states.
