Rite Aid goes 3-D with digital strategy
Shoppers at Rite Aid stores in New York and Los Angeles will soon get a dose of 3-D along with their prescriptions as the retailer rolls out the first of its high-tech customer kiosks at 200 retail locations.
The 3-D Savings Center kiosks generate eye-popping, 3-D holographic videos and provide offer health information and promotions. In addition to the 3-D holographic images that project in front of the screen, the kiosks feature 2-D interactive touchscreens that provide access to riteaid.com, wellness information, Rite Aid promotions in-store and online, rewards, coupons and product samples.
"These kiosks provide convenient access for our wellness-plus members to better maximize the value they can get from our program, providing meaningful savings right at the point of purchase on featured products and services advertised on the Provision network," said Craig Riner, VP of marketing for Rite Aid. "They also represent another way we are trying to leverage technology in our stores to create a more engaging experience for our customers."
The kiosks’ 3-D displays have been proven to generate a great deal of digital engagement from retail customers. Brand marketers will be able to showcase their products via 3-D advertising and engage viewers via the interactive touchscreen interface. The kiosks are also able to print coupon offers, allowing Rite Aid and other advertisers to offer customers highly effective sales influencers at the point of purchase. The 3-D holographic display projects videos in front of the screen without the need for any special glasses and without any discomforting eye stress.
"We are very excited about the commencement of our production rollout," said Curt Thornton, president and CEO of Provision. "Rite Aid customers will enjoy an engaging 3D holographic experience and be immediately rewarded with coupons, promotions, and other giveaways for in-store products. They can also access information on local health care providers who are advertising their services through our kiosks."
