Retailers offer 'Deals' through Facebook

PALO ALTO, Calif. Facebook has launched "Deals," a new service that enables users of its "Places" application to access deals from participating companies.

According to Facebook different types of deals will be available including individual deals for a discount, free merchandise or other reward; friend deals where friends can claim an offer together; loyalty deals for being a frequent visitor to a place; and charity deals where businesses pledge to donate to a cause when you check in.

Several retailers are already participating in the service including American Eagle Outfitters, which is offering 20% off, Gap, which is giving away blue jeans to the first 10,000 customers to claim their deal, H&M, which is offering 20% off, JCPenney, which is giving $10 off any $50 purchase, Macy's, which is offering 20% off select merchandise.
