Report: Sears to test in-store toy shops
New York City Sears Holding Co. is planning to pilot in-store toy shops, according to the Los Angeles Times, with plans to open 20 mini-toy shops in August.
Sears, which stopped selling toys on its own in the 1980s, will open four toy shops in the San Francisco area, six in the Los Angeles area and seven in the Chicago area, the report said, along with three in the New York City metro region. Sears experimented with temporary in-store KB Toys locations during the holiday season in the late 1990s, but discontinued the practice.
