Report: Retail same-store sales outlook improved
Columbus A report released Friday by Prosper Technologies found that same-store sales forecasts have improved, for the fourth month in a row.
The ForecastIQ report indicated that 18 of 27 retailers tracked are predicted to experience growth; In fact, April received an “almost certain increase” indicator, which according to the report means that in May and June, retailers are almost certain to experience same-store sales growth from the same period a year ago.
Retailers expected to see same-store growth include the specialty category (Aeropostale, Buckle and Wet Seal were cited specifically), warehouse clubs, discounters such as Ross and TJX, and Nordstrom.
On the other hand, according to the report, Cato’s, Dillard’s and Hot Topic are likely/almost certain to post a decline through June.
Bon Ton, Gap and J.C. Penney are likely to see a decline, according to the report, but are in a better position than they were a year ago.
