RadioShack to offer at-home tech support

9/8/2009

Fort Worth, Texas RadioShack Corp. and AT&T announced Tuesday they are teaming up to launch AT&T ConnecTech support services in more than 4,000 company-owned RadioShack stores in a move that will allow personnel to help customers on-site and at home via remote technology capabilities. Under the agreement, AT&T ConnecTech will serve as a full-service tech-support team for RadioShack customers.

RadioShack said the new technical services team will specialize in home theater installations, computer setup and support, home network installation and one-time remote technical support.

"Consumers trust RadioShack's helpful experts who work together with them to find just the right products and services for their connected lifestyles," said Peter Whitsett, executive VP and general merchandising manager for RadioShack.

The new service launch follows several other recent initiatives, including a rebranding campaign in which the company will market RadioShack under the phrase "The Shack" to identify its chain of stores.

The company said earlier this year it is not changing its name, but does intend to use the new nickname as part of a high-profile marketing campaign.
