RadioShack aids move from analog to digital
WASHINGTON According to the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration, RadioShack will be helping consumers make the transition from analog to digital television with a coupon program, training of sales associates and customer education.
The NTIA announced in a news release that RadioShack will be offering coupons for digital-to-analog converter boxes, which can be used with analog televisions for free, over-the-air broadcasts after Feb. 17, 2009, when stations convert to all-digital signals. The retailer will also be training sales associates on the transition and the program, and offering in-store and online consumer education.
John Kneuer, NTIA administrator and commerce’s assistant secretary of communication and information commented, “These efforts will assist NTIA greatly in educating all consumers about the Converter Box Coupon Program.”
