Pep Boys creates and fills chief customer role

PHILADELPHIA — The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack have appointed Thomas Carey to the newly created position of SVP, chief customer officer. In this new position, Carey will be responsible for guiding the company’s customer experience strategies and tactics, as well as leading the development and execution of its marketing strategies. Carey is expected to start with Pep Boys on Aug. 6.



Carey most recently served as the SVP and chief marketing officer for Orchard Supply Hardware. From 2003 until joining Orchard in 2007, Carey served as SVP and chief marketing officer of West Marine Inc. Prior to joining West Marine, Carey served in various marketing leadership positions of increasing seniority with several national retailers, and also has agency experience with, among others, Ogilvy & Mather and Young & Rubicam.
