MINNEAPOLIS-- Consumer electronics become outdated almost as soon as the public learns about them, so electronics trade-in services, such as the one offered by Target, help consumers stay on top of the latest trends without having to have a pile of old cell phones collecting dust in their homes. Target Wednesday announced that it has expanded its trade-in program to include Nintendo DS, in time for the upcoming release of the Nintendo 3DS.

“Target always aims to offer guests the hottest brands in electronics for an exceptional value,” said Nik Nayar, VP merchandising, Target. “The Nintendo 3DS is one of the most anticipated new products to debut this spring and by expanding our trade-in options, we are offering Target’s guests incredible savings on all the latest gadgets.”

The Nintendo 3DS will be available on March 27. Target said it is accepting pre-orders in stores or on Target.com.Guests can trade in a Nintendo DS and receive up to $50 to put toward the purchase of a 3DS or any other purchase at Target. In addition, guests can trade in their used cell phones, iPods or video games and receive credit to be put towards the newly released Verizon iPhone 4, which will be available at Target Mobile centers beginning March 25.
