Seattle – Nordstrom Inc. is letting women join the club. More specifically, Nordstrom is now allowing women to apply to its Trunk Club online personal shopper service that was previously only open to men.
A page on the Nordstrom website invites women to sign up for the waitlist to join Trunk Club’s new women’s service (a message explains “We’re not able to serve everybody just yet”). Nordstrom purchased Trunk Club, which at that time delivered a personalized online stylist service, in August 2014. Trunk Club launched in 2009 as an independent start-up.
The free, no-obligation style service offers a full suite of solutions, from day to day ready-to-wear basics to high-end custom garments. Customers receive a trunk of clothing delivered to their home to try on. Any and all items can be shipped back for free, with the customer paying for whatever they keep and also able to get free alterations at Nordstrom stores.
Trunk Club reached $100 million in annual sales in 2014 and Nordstrom has said the service could generate twice that figure in 2015.
