Nordstrom hiring less holiday employees this year

Nordstrom may be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but a new team of associates will be ready to serve shoppers come Black Friday.



The department store retailer announced it will hire approximately 11,400 seasonal employees this year, which is approximately 3% fewer than last year.



Approximately 9,500 people will take on sales and stock positions at 123 Nordstrom stores in the United States and Canada, and 213 Nordstrom Rack stores in the U.S. Another 1,900 people will support the company's stores and e-commerce business.



Among the positions these omnichannel-focused associates will fill include receiving, stock, picking and packing at fulfillment centers Iowa, Pennsylvania and California; and in distribution centers located in Oregon, Iowa, California, Florida and Maryland.



These positions will be both full-time and part-time shifts.
