Nike holds off on Vick shoe
BEAVERTON, Ore. Nike confirmed in a statement Thursday that following the dogfighting allegations made against Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, it will delay the release of the athlete's endorsed shoe, the Zoom Vick V. The company added, however, that it would not end its relationship with Vick, saying he "should be afforded the same due process as any citizen."
On July 17, the U.S. District Court for Eastern District of Virginia issued an indictment against Vick, accusing him and two others of being involved in a dogfighting ring after an investigation lead to the discovery of numerous abused dogs on one of his properties in Virginia. He is scheduled to appear in court with his fellow defendants on July 26.
