Newegg opens high-tech warehouse to better serve Midwest
Newegg has opened a high-tech warehouse and shipping today in Indianapolis. The leading technology e-retailer estimates that the new warehouse will allow 45 million people in the Midwestern U.S. to get their orders faster.
In addition to Indiana, customers in Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Wisconsin and West Virginia will see the greatest benefit, with noticeably shorter delivery times.
“I’m very excited to welcome Newegg to Indianapolis,” said Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann. “This new warehouse facility not only benefits Indiana shoppers with faster order fulfillment, but also demonstrates Indiana’s ongoing support of commerce and job creation.”
The facility features cutting-edge package-picking technologies that greatly streamline the order fulfillment process, the company said. The new warehouse itself encompasses nearly a half-million sq. ft. and can handle more than 5,000 products and 3,000 orders per day. Once all aspects of the facility are fully operational, inventory will increase to more than 20,000 products with a processing capacity of more than 12,000 orders every day.
“The opening of this fulfillment center is a great development for new and current customers of Newegg,” said Soren Mills, chief marketing officer for Newegg North America. “We’re very grateful for the enthusiastic reception Indianapolis has given Newegg and look forward to providing better, quicker service to Newegg customers throughout the Midwest.”
