Nation’s biggest mall hires its first black Santa
The Mall of America is making headlines for one of its seasonal hires.
For the first time in its 24-year history, the Minnesota mall is featuring a black Santa. Played by retired U.S. Army veteran Larry Jefferson, he is part of the center’s four-day Santa Experience, which offers by-appointment-only sessions that require the purchase of a photo package, the Star Tribune reported. (Mall of America also offers free, wait-in-line Santas.)
According to the report, hundreds of appointments requesting Jefferson have him booked solid.
