Macy's names next designer for capsule collection series
NEW YORK —Macy's has announced Doo-Ri Chung as the next acclaimedfashion designer to take part in the designer capsule collection seriesfor the retailer's contemporary fashion 'Impulse' department.
Soldin approximately 225 Macy's stores nationwide and on macys.com beginningFeb.15, the "Doo-Ri for Impulse only at Macy's" collection will includeart-inspired prints, jersey pieces mixed with leather, beautifullydetailed knitwear and Doo-Ri's iconic draping, all at an affordableprice, according to the company.
"My clothes have always been about making women feel elegant and modern,which is why I am so excited about this capsule collection," said Chung. "It truly embodies the confidence and creativity of the modernwoman."
Pricedon average from $39 to $159, the collection will feature soft fabrics,art-inspired prints and feminine silhouettes, all grounded in blues andgreys with red, black and orange infused throughout, Macy's said.
Sincelaunching her signature collection in 2003, Chung has made her mark asone of the leading lights of the next generation of great Americandesigners, according to Macy's. Following graduation from the prestigious Parsons The NewSchool of Design, she worked with Geoffrey Beene for fiveyears and rose to the position of lead designer.Within a year of launching her label, Chung was named as afinalist in the first-ever Council of Fashion Designers of America/VogueFashion Fund (CVFF) and was prominently featured in the Douglas Keevefilm Seamless, which documented the challenges and triumphs of threetalented designers with growing businesses.
