Kohl's, TJX report October sales gains

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. and MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. Kohl’s and TJX today both reported increases in sales for the October period ended Nov. 3. TJX reported that sales were $1.54 billion, up 6% from $1.46 billion last year. Kohl's reported sales of $1.3 billion, up 1.6% from sales of $1.25 billion last year.

On a comparable-store basis, TJX came out ahead with a comps increase of 3% for October. Kohl’s comparable-store sales fell by 3.8%.

Although both companies saw positive sales growth for the month, they said they did not meet expectations due to unseasonably warm weather during the month.
