A popular goose from up north is about to nest in two high-profile locations.
Canada Goose, best known for its signature — and pricey — goose-down jacket with Arctic Circle logo and fur-trimmed hood, will open its first two freestanding stores this fall. The flagship locations are set to open at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, and in downtown Manhattan, in SoHo.
The nearly 60-years-old Canadian brand has experienced explosive growth over the last decade, fueled by its embrace by celebrities, social-media influencers and high-profile exposure at such trendy events as the Sundance Film Festival. In the last five years alone, revenues have increased by more than 450%.
Averaging about 4,000 sq. ft. each, the Canadian Goose stores will highlight the company's heritage and unique culture through the curated exhibition of vintage designs along with its newest styles.
“Opening our own stores is something I've always dreamed of,” said Dani Reiss, president & CEO, Canada Goose. “It's an exciting new chapter in our evolution from a small outerwear manufacturer nearly 60 years ago, to the only truly global, Canadian luxury apparel retailer. There's no other brand like Canada Goose and that's something people will feel as soon as they step into our stores.”
The company said it has created an in-depth brand immersion program where employees will become not only product experts, but true brand ambassadors. The experiential program is designed to enable employees to engage in all aspects of the brand, including tours at one of four Canada Goose factories to see the company's craftsmanship in action and a first-hand look at how Canada Goose works with Polar Bears International in Churchill, Manitoba.
The stores will offer a full assortment of every seasonal collection, and also introduce special collaborations and in-store exclusives throughout the year. In addition, they will present select vintage pieces from the company's six-decade archives.
"Amazing product, inspiring people, and unique experience will be the fabric of every Canada Goose store," Reiss said.
