Hot Topic 3Q Earnings Decline

City of Industry, Calif., Hot Topic, Inc. reported net income of $12.6 million in the third quarter ended Oct. 30, a decrease of 17.6% when compared with earnings of $15.3 million in the prior-year period. Comparable-store sales decreased 4.2% for the quarter, while overall net sales for the 13-week period were up 12% to $180.8 million.
