The Hershey Company is moving its popular store in Manhattan’s Times Square to a much larger location.
The company will unveil a new Hershey’s Chocolate World flagship at 20 Times Square in late 2017. The new store will be three times larger than the existing Hershey’s store, which has been a major tourist attraction since it opened in 2002. It will also feature even more bells and whistles, including a state-of-the-art digital billboard.
Hershey and its global design team will work with The Witkoff Group, a global real estate development and investment firm, and FRCH Worldwide, a strategic design and architectural firm, on the development of the new space. The store will have entrances on both West 47th Street and 7th Avenue.
“We are very pleased to welcome Hershey’s Chocolate World into the fold at 20 Times Square,” said Steven Witkoff, chairman and CEO of Witkoff. Earlier this month, Witkoff confirmed that the NFL Experience, a partnership between the NFL and Cirque du Soleil, had signed on at 20 Times Square.
Hershey’s existing store, located at Broadway and West 48th Street, will remain open during construction of the new space.
“We are thrilled to expand our Hershey’s Chocolate World presence in New York with a new, larger flagship store in the heart of Times Square, which is truly the crossroads of the world,” said Suzanne Jones, VP, Hershey Experience. “Our vision is to create a destination where people of all ages can interact with our iconic brands and immerse themselves in all things chocolate.”
The New York location is one of eight Hershey’s Chocolate World retail stores.
Other retail locations include Chicago, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Dubai, Singapore and Shanghai.
