Gymboree, Bakers Footwear report Q1, April results
New York City Gymboree Corp. said Thursday its same-store sales dropped 10% in the first quarter. Total sales fell 5% to $228 million for the quarter, but beat Wall Street expectations.
"Our promotions during the month, including our quarterly Gymbucks event, performed better than originally expected," said CEO Matthew McCauley.
Mall-based footwear retailer Bakers Footwear reported an April comp-store sales increase of 1.9% and comp-store sales increase of 4.8% for the first quarter.
Total sales for April edged up to $15.1 million from $15.0 million, and increased 3.3%, to $45 million, for the first quarter.
