Grocer in online turkey move for Thanksgiving
At a time when grocers are seeking ways to differentiate their e-commerce model, Natural Grocers is making a bold move just in time for Thanksgiving.
As an increasing number of shoppers are using online resources to make more informed decisions before making a purchase, Natural Grocers is launching an e-commerce service that enables shoppers to research and order their holiday turkey, and pick it up at their preferred store.
“The grocery business is changing, and information and convenience is at the forefront of this new transition," said the grocer’s co-president, Kemper Isely. "We've always been innovators in the retail space, and now we're also leading the way by providing customers more options and service online.”
The e-commerce site also educates shoppers about different kinds of GMO turkeys, including organic, free range or heritage grades; as well as recipes, and hosting tips. Natural Grocer requires a $5 pre-order deposit, as it predicts that inventory will sell out by Nov. 10, according to the company’s website.
