Getting 'Ripped' in London with AMZN Prime
In much the same way that warehouse club operators offer exclusive benefits to members so they upgrade to premium levels, Amazon continues to enrich offerings available to Prime members who pay an annual fee.
The most recent example comes from the United Kingdom where Amazon continues to invest heavily in content available exclusively be Prime customers. The company launched Amazon Prime Instant Video allowing unlimited access to the UK’s largest subscription streaming library with more than 15,000 movies and television episodes. In addition, Amazon said its instant video service is the only place where Prime members can view the drama Ripper Street, which is something of a big deal because the show is quite popular in the U.K.
Fans of the show can watch the first two seasons if they are Amazon Prime members and Amazon commissioned a third season of the show inspired by life on the mean streets of London in the 19th century.
"We're delighted to have secured not only the highly popular first two seasons of Ripper Street for our Prime Instant Video customers, but we can also confirm today that we will making season three, news that we know will delight the millions of fans of this brilliant British drama," said Jason Ropell, head of Amazon Instant Video International Content Acquisition. "Prime Instant Video offers our customers the largest subscription streaming service in the UK with more than 15,000 popular movies and TV episodes, many of which are exclusive to the service, and we're just getting started."
