GameStop hiring more game advisors
GRAPEVINE, Tex. GameStop announced it is planning to hire approximately 15,000 seasonal part-time game advisors between now and Dec. 24, to fill open positions at its 4,300 stores in the United States. This number will increase the company’s total headcount by approximately 46% and the in-store game advisor headcount by approximately 78%. These numbers are consistent with GameStop’s seasonal hiring efforts in 2008 and 2007.
“The end of the year historically represents a large part of our company’s annual sales, and 2009 is not expected to be any different,” said Marissa Andrada, GameStop’s SVP of human resources. “The launches of several highly anticipated blockbuster video game titles such as Call of Duty/Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed II and the Wii Fit Plus combined with the recent price reductions for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii gaming consoles are expected to create a lot of store traffic from customers seeking out GameStop’s unparalleled customer service, value and selection.”
Interested applicants 16 years of age or older can pick up applications at their neighborhood GameStop store. Previous retail experience is preferred, but not required.
