GameStop guarantees Wii after Christmas

12/14/2007

NEW YORK Holiday shoppers who failed to get their hands on the coveted Wii this Christmas were given a consulation prize -- a guarantee of getting a Wii after Christmas.

According to reports Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that his company was working with GameStop to launch a "rain check" program that guarantees that if a customer purchases an out-of-stock Wii at full price beginning on Dec. 20, he or she will receive a rain check certificate ensuring that Wii system will be in his or her hands in January.

The program is only being offered through GameStop because of its pre-sell program, reports indicate.
