eBay’s newest furniture destination looks like a page right out of Architectural Digest.
This is understandable since the pure play retailer’s newest effort, eBay Collective, features curated inventory of furniture, antiques, contemporary design and fine art inspired by the company’s newest partner, Architectural Digest. The dedicated destination’s inventory spans one-of-a-kind objects that can traditionally only be found in independent brick-and-mortar stores. Featured merchandise is provided by trusted dealers and galleries invited to participate by eBay.
“By aligning eBay’s unmatched inventory with Architectural Digest’s imagery and content, we’re creating a one-stop destination where inspiration leads to purchase on the same platform,” said Suzy Deering, eBay’s chief marketing officer of North America.
With so many items available to browse, eBay is streamlining the shopping experience with “Shop the Look,” an artificial intelligence solution that is powered by Corrigon, a company recently acquired by eBay. As shoppers use their mouse to hover over an item’s image, the analytics tool searches eBay Collective listings to present additional inventory content that matches or is similar to the highlighted portion of the merchandise.
“Whether you are looking for a unique piece of furniture from a specific time period or one-of-a-kind piece of artwork for your home that reflects your own style, eBay Collective will help shoppers to find that perfect piece,” said Jill Ramsey, eBay’s VP of soft goods.
