Dollar General honored for support of National Guard, Reserve
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. The Employer Support of Guard and Reserve (ESGR) awarded its Pro Patria award to Dollar General Corporation. The award was presented as part of the company’s Veterans Day ceremony at its Store Support Center.
“Dollar General is honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Bob Ravener, Dollar General’s chief people officer and US Navy veteran. “We recognize and appreciate the sacrifices our military service members make every day. The company considers it a duty and privilege to support our employees who risk their lives to defend our nation through service in the National Guard and Reserve.”
The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard conducts an awards program designed to recognize employers who support a strong National Guard and Reserve force. Employers qualify when they practice leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve. The Pro Patria award is presented annually to the one employer in each state or territory that has provided the most exceptional support of our national defense through leadership practices and personnel policies that support their National Guard and Reserve employees.
COL (Ret) Joe Thomas, ESGR State Chairman said, “With close to 4,000 Tennessee employers of Guard and Reserve members, the singular recognition of Dollar General with the Pro Patria is a significant statement to their great support of our Reservists. Since the onset of ESGR’s partnership with Dollar General last May, we have found their patriotism to be apparent from top management throughout the organization.”
