Disney Consumer Products predicts strong growth
NEW YORK Disney Consumer Products chairman Andy Mooney said that retail sales of Disney merchandise are on track exceed $30 billion in global retail sales in fiscal 2008, a record for Disney products, which in 2007 more than doubled retail sales from $13 billion to $27 billion in just five years.
The company expects strong growth with tween products, lead by High School Musical and Hannah Montana, with sales anticipated to reach $2.7 billion. DCP’s girls franchises, Disney Princess and Disney Fairies are projected to reach sales of $5 billion. On the boys side, Disney•Pixar’s Cars, is expected to generate $2.5 billion in global retail sales of licensed merchandise.
