Dillard's posts 3% July sales increase, 2Q decrease
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Dillard’s posted July sales of $513.8 million for the four weeks ended Aug. 2, compared to sales of $500.3 million for the like 2007 period. Total sales increased 3%. Sales in comparable stores increased 2% for the four-week period.
Sales for the 13-week second quarter ended Aug. 2 were $1.61 billion, compared to sales of $1.65 billion in 2007. Sales decreased 3% in total stores. Sales in comparable stores decreased 4% for the 13-week period.
During the four weeks ended Aug. 2, 2008, sales in the juniors’ and children’s apparel category and in the home and furniture category were significantly below trend.
