Conscious consumerism
Customers who purchase select branded products this week at Target can feel good about their choice, since 5% of the purchase price will be donated to Target House, a facility that provides housing for patient and families at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Target House opened 10 years ago this month in Memphis, Tenn., and today it provides 98 fully-equipped apartments for those receiving long-term care and their families. To date, more than 1,300 families have stayed at the free facility. The products included in the charitable initiative were featured in this week’s Target circular and included products from Clorox, Kellog’s, Kimberly Clark, Nestle, Neutrogene, PepsiCo and Proctor & Gamble. The suppliers funded the program up to a maximum donation of $700,000.
