CompUSA touts technology with latest BTS promotions

8/13/2007

CompUSA is staging a back-to-school promotion that offers discounts on select school-related items and technical services. The “CompUSA on Campus” promotion runs through Aug. 25 and offers low prices on student essentials and some higher-ticket items.

Products on sale include a 2GB flash drive for $20, a Lexmark wireless all-in-one printer for $99 (after rebate), a Hewlett-Packard notebook computer with a 17-inch screen for $800 and an HP Pavilion media center with a 20-inch monitor and printer for $1,000.

And CompUSA’s TechPro customer service will provide 30 days of unlimited assistance online or by phone for $30 to anyone who buys a desktop or laptop computer.

“While it’s essential that students get the technology they need, purchasing products is just half the equation,” said Paul Ewert, evp and gmm for CompUSA. “New products often bring new questions and that’s why CompUSA is also providing a special technology services offer.”

CompUSA is also offering product bundles called “Campus Packs” that feature a variety of necessities such as printers, backpacks and CDs. The back-to-school packs will change weekly and will be priced as low as $17.

The retailer’s instant-win sweepstakes allows consumers to bring a game piece found in CompUSA’s Sunday inserts or online into stores for a free scan. Prizes include a $10,000 grand prize, 1,000 gift cards totaling $30,000 and instant discounts on store purchases.
