California Sam's Clubs promote efficient light use

10/4/2007

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. Sam's Club is partnering with OSRAM SYLVANIA, the North American lighting leader, and Pacific Gas and Electric Company for a special program promoting the use of compact fluorecent lamps (CFLs)in California.

As part of this progaram SYLVANIA is offering savings on CFLs at participating Sam's Club locations in Bakersfield, Concord, Fresno, Vacaville and Yuba City. According to OSRAM SYLVANIA residential utility program manager Cherie Downey, SYLVANIA CFLs use 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and can last for about seven years.

"Sam's Club is very pleased with SYLVANIA's performance and PG&E's support in the program," said Shane Dickerson, Sam's Club market manager. "The success of this incentive really opens doors for furthering this partnership and continuing to service our members and our environment." Keith Reed, PG&E customer energy efficiency manager, added that "switching to new, energy efficient CFLs is the easiest way to conserve energy, save money and reduce CO2 emissions."
