Bon-Ton cuts 3Q loss

YORK, Pa. The Bon-Ton Stores reported a net loss of $14.3 million, or 85 cents per diluted share, for the quarter ended Nov. 1, compared with a net loss of $19.4 million, or $1.17 per diluted share, for the thirteen-week period ended Nov. 3, 2007.

For the third quarter, comparable-store sales decreased 8.3% compared with the prior year period. Total sales decreased 7.2% to $724.9 million compared with $780.8 million for the prior year period.
