Bob’s testing the waters in Maine
New York-based retailer Bob’s Stores has had stores all over the Northeast for more than a half-century, but now the company has finally set its sights on Maine shoppers.
The retailer will hold a grand opening for its first location in the state of Maine, in South Portland, at 301 Maine Mall Road, on March 22.
Bob’s last opened a store in October 2011 in East Northport, N.Y.
“Bob’s Stores has been serving the Northeast for more than 60 years, and we are looking forward to introducing our store experience to the Portland community and expanding our presence into Maine,” said Mark Walsh, CEO, Vestis Retail Group. “We have cultivated our product offerings especially to Maine’s active landscape and added a selection of camping and water sports equipment to our vast assortment of merchandise. Our goal is to quickly become a strong, supportive member of the South Portland community and fulfill needs for every member of the family with value-driven products.”
With more than 30 locations in the Northeast, Bob’s first store in Maine features more than 15,000 pairs of footwear and a wide selection of apparel. The 16,423 square-foot store will be the first Bob’s Store to carry camping equipment and kayaks.
Specifically, product offerings include workwear, teamwear, activewear, everyday wear and hard goods from name brands including Adidas, Carhartt, Levi’s, New Balance, Nike, Timberland and Under Armour. Camping gear includes kayaks, backpacks, tents and sleeping bags.
