Best Buy makes online shopping even easier

Best Buy is taking another leap forward in its quest to make shopping across platforms as easy as possible for consumers.

The retailer, in partnership with American Express, hasintegrated new technology that allows Amex card members enrolled in the Amex Membership Rewards program to seamlessly use their points for online purchases on BestBuy.com. In addition card members can use their membership rewards points for all or part of each online purchase and either pick it up in one of Best Buy’s stores or have it delivered to their doors.

“In our stores and online at BestBuy.com, our customers expect choice and flexibility from us on how they pay for and receive the consumer electronics they want,” said Mary Lou Kelley, president of e-commerce at Best Buy. “We are excited to partner with American Express and allow card members the ability to convert their Membership Rewards points into the latest and greatest consumer electronics products and services.”

The unique technology enables eligible Amex cardholders to easily use rewards points for all or part of their BestBuy.com purchases, and allows them to check their rewards points balance before they check out on BestBuy.com. There are no codes or registration needed. Best Buy will also offer all customers shopping on BestBuy.com – including Amex cardholders who choose to use points for their purchase – the option to get their purchases quickly with same day pick-up in store, as 70% of Americans live within 15 minutes of one of Best Buy’s 1,400 U.S. locations.

To use membership rewards points online at BestBuy.com, customers can:



• Open “Your Cart” and proceed through the checkout process

• Enter an eligible American Express Card at online checkout and check Membership Rewards points balance and the equivalent dollar value

• Designate how many points to use towards your purchase (Card Members can use points for all or part of their order)

• Complete the checkout process by confirming and placing the order

In other Best Buy news on Thursday, the retailer announced it will become the exclusive in-store and online distributor for 360fly cameras (cameras that shoot video that you can manipulate in 360 degrees). In anticipation of the in-store release, Best Buy has begun taking pre-orders for the cameras, which will retail at $399 at approximately 900 stores.
