Best Buy gears up for DTV switch
MINNEAPOLIS Best Buy announced Thursday that it will begin selling DTV converter boxes on Feb. 17. Customers can use their coupons from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and receive $40 toward the purchase price, Best Buy reported.
Best Buy said it is launching a hotline for consumers seeking information about the DTV transition. The company said its store employees are also trained on the transition and the options available to consumers.
"The DTV transition is an event that is unprecedented in this country, and it will require a coordinated effort by broadcasters, manufacturers, retailers and the government,” said Mike Vitelli, senior vp of electronics for Best Buy. “We take our role as a trusted source of information very seriously. We are committed to do whatever we can to help customers find a solution that meets their specific needs."
