Belk makes donation for tornado and storm victims

Belk has entered into a multilayered partnership with the American Red Cross to aid those impacted by the recent storms that have swept through the southern United States.



As a part of the partnership, Belk will make a $100,000 contribution to help with immediate and long-term recovery efforts, and customers will have the opportunity to participate by donating to the fund on belk.com. In addition, Belk will work with the local American Red Cross chapters to provide store discounts to those affected by the storm.



Local Chapters of the American Red Cross have also been invited to participate in Belk's Charity Sale this Saturday, May 3, by selling tickets to the event at the door. The American Red Cross will keep 100% of the $5 tickets they sell that day. Belk's Charity Sale will be held at all Belk locations from 6-10 a.m.



"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who have suffered through these devastating storms. Our primary concern is to take care of our family of associates, customers and neighbors," said Tim Belk, chairman and CEO of Belk. "The American Red Cross is at the forefront of disaster relief efforts, providing much needed resources and support to those whose lives have been impacted by these storms."



Belk added that it will fund the immediate needs of its employees who were affected by the storms through its Charlotte Good Neighbor Fund.
