An apple a day at Walmart

BENTONVILLE, Ark. With the arrival of fall, Walmart is promoting apples. During the month of October, Walmart will offer savings on apples and apple products, as well as recipes and Paula Deen products, as part of Apple Fest.

The promotion will take place at 2,000 Walmart stores, and select stores will offer shoppers samples of apples and apple products on Oct. 2, Oct. 4, Oct. 10 and Oct. 11. Produce from local growers will also be featured throughout stores nationwide.

During Apple Fest, Walmart will promote local produce, as the retailer said it has teamed with more than 200 local growers to stock over 5,000 pounds of apples in each store nationwide. The company is also touting Paula Deen's exclusive line of baked goods, such  as Apple Crunch Top Pie, between $3 and $7.50 retail.
