AnnTaylor 3Q Profit Up
New York City, AnnTaylor Stores Corp. on Friday said fiscal third-quarter profit rose 4%, helped by sales at new stores as well as revenue from factory stores and the Web.
Net income for the quarter ended Nov. 3 rose to $40.8 million from $39.3 million last year. Revenue rose 6% to $600.9 million from $566.3 million a year ago. Net sales at Ann Taylor-brand stores fell 4.4%, to $213.5 million, while Ann Taylor Loft sales rose 8.9% to $296.9 million.
Meanwhile, same-store sales fell 0.4%; including a 4.4% drop at Ann Taylor stores and an 0.3% drop at Loft stores. The company blamed weak traffic and unseasonably warm weather.
