Adler helps eBay take mobile to the streets

NEW YORK — eBay announced that it has joined with designer Jonathan Adler to open The eBay Inspiration Shop, a 24/7 shoppable storefront in New York City showcasing a collection of new, must-have merchandise for the fall season. What makes the store unique, according to eBay is that customers can shop for the featured items using their smartphone.

“Consumers today expect to shop how they want, when they want – and mobile technology is blurring the lines between online and offline retail to meet this demand,” said Richelle Parham, chief marketing officer for eBay North America. “The Inspiration Shop brings to life how eBay enables people to immediately act on their passion for shopping in this new commerce environment. Collaborating with a creative visionary like Jonathan Adler helps us present this innovative experience in such a chic and compelling way.”

eBay said it collobarted with a number of trendsetters tohelp curate the items featured in the windows by sharing their shopping wish lists for fall. The items represent what’s on their minds this season across fashion, motors and electronics – from denim to digital cameras, engines to e-readers, and wrist watches to new wheels.

“I’m dedicated to bringing style and joy to people through design, and working with eBay has given me a new way to inspire shoppers this season,” said Adler. “The chic choices from our contributors, coupled with the incredible selection available on eBay, resulted in a genuinely inspired storefront. Customers can shop the storefront by using the eBay appto scan custom Quick Response codes and shop similar items — available new and now — from more than 200 million listings on the eBay marketplace.
