A.C. Moore sales down in Q4, full year

Berlin, N.J. A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts announced that sales for the fourth quarter of 2008 were $165.0 million, down 6.9% from $177.3 million in the same period the year before. Same-store sales were down 8.7% for the quarter.

Sales for the year were $534.7 million, down 4.5% from $559.7 million last year. Same-store sales were down 8.7% for the 12-month period.

The net loss in the fourth quarter was $13.0 million, vs. net income of $4.7 million for the same period last year.

The net loss for fiscal 2008 was $26.6 million, compared with $3.8 million in the same period the year before.
